The construction of a hardcover book
1、Dustjacket: The jacket is a protective shell on the cover so that the book will not be worn for long-term storage and flipping.
Usually, the hardcover books we see in bookstores are also printed with the title and author information on the dustjacket.
2, Waist Band/Paper band: The waistband is outside of a dust jacket, a belly band of a book. Its main function is to cooperate with marketing or book recommendations
4, Title page: The title page is the page before the beginning of the text and the page after the end paper. Generally, the title, author (translator), and publisher are printed on the title page.
②Book Signatures： The main body of the book, a medium for disseminating knowledge,it is a book without a cover. The grams of paper is selected for inner pages according to the number of pages. Generally, 80gsm-128 grams paper is selected for the inner pages, but if there are not many pages, you can choose thicker paper like 157gsm.
Case(Cover): The board is covered with paper or cloth or other materials. The paper can be coated paper, matte paper, special paper, fake leather, fabric, etc.
The cover could have foil stamping, embossing, spot UV, which look beautiful and generous.
The front cover and back cover plays a role in beautifying the book and protecting books signatures.
The covers are printed with the title, author, and publisher. The barcode of the book is printed on the back cover.
Endpaper: There are 8 pages of endpapers,4pages at the front and 4 pages at the back .which are glued between the case and inner pages.
Endpapers connect case and book signatures. Its function is to ensure that the cover and book signature are not separated.
Backing material: A piece of paper to glue with gauze

Head and tail band: They come in many colors, Normally white, red, and white. At two ends of the book to cover the binding
Ribbon:The ribbon is glued to the back of book signatures,it is used as a bookmark. Generally red color, brown.Some hardcover books do not have ribbons.
6、Flap: Flap is the part of a dustjacket, normally 80-100mm in width.to prevent the cover from curling up. The flap is usually printed with the introduction of the author’s information.

1，According to the covers:
A： Hardcover bookbinding ——The cover is hard,this is not foldable,

B： Flexible Case Bound ——The cover is soft and foldable, which is
harder than the softcover book. Paper mounted over C1S card.
2， According to spine:
The spine is the junction between the surface of the book block and the back of the book, as well as the junction between the front and back of the hardcover book and the back of the book.
A： The back of the book with the square spine is straight, and hard cardboard such as gray board is often used for covers.
B： The round ridges are usually lined with paperboard, which is convenient for arc starting.
